Item Description

The CORE4 Challenge is a 3 week day camp for boys and girls 5th-8th grade (ages 10-14) includes music; art activities, culinary classes, field trips, games, Pilates, Yoga, obstacle courses, money matters and more. These are part of the CORE4 skills: Food, Fitness, Finances & Friendships - essential life skills learned in a fun, nurturing environment.

THE CAMP EXPERIENCE - WHAT DO THEY DO IN CAMP?

FOOD From seasoning to seasonal learn how to bake, grill, boil and create balanced meals. Chop and shop your way through Whole Foods- reading nutrition labels and where they hide the chocolate.

FITNESS Yoga, Pilates, obstacle courses and stretching are some of the energetic activities we explore through our partnership with local fitness clubs. Experience the rush of a racing heart beat and create your own FastFifteen workout.

FINANCES What would you do if you found $100 bill? Investing, credit cards and debit cards- money makes the world go round but do you know how to set up your bank account?

FRIENDSHIPS Explore the meaning of words, feelings and actions through music and art. Create your own lyrics and record music that expresses who you are. Utilize creative play to engage topics such as bullying, peer relationships, conflict and resolution.

Field trips. Games. Activities. Learning.

Camp includes hands-on instruction time and field trips to partner locations to work with experts in each area--fitness trainers, professional chefs, nutritionists-- and to participate in fun games and activities. A healthy lunch and snacks will be enjoyed outdoors (weather permitting).

4 Courses in 1 Camp: How do we do it?

Campers rotate through the CORE4 throughout the camp, learning, practicing and applying the skills they learn as they participate in team activities and challenges. Camp size is limited to 20 campers, providing kids with a more nurturing and interactive environment and a chance to form new friendships. On the final day, all campers come together to work on a community service project. 

Located at the Irish American Heritage Center - 4626 N. Knox (at Wilson).

The Irish American Heritage Center is located on Chicago’s Northwest Side. The Center is just east of the Edens Expressway at the Wilson Avenue exit.

*Early drop off available (8:30am): $20 per day (includes breakfast and supervised activities), late pick up options also available.

Covers 3 weeks of camp, supplies, field trips & snacks.
