Item Description
In preparation for this project, the 5th grade class learned the significance of the American friendship quilt in the early 1800's. Friends would gather to create a collaborative design and produce a quilt given as a parting gift to a pioneer family as they set out "west". This wall hanging represents modern take on the friendship quilt. Students each designed a 3" square using colored wire and beads. The squares were linked together to form a border around the copper mesh cross. These 35 separate pieces unite to form this one-of-a-kind momento of the 5th grade class of STGGCS. Not only will this cross be a beautful worship symbol in any home, but it will serve as a symbol of youth that can be passed down to generations to come.
