Item Description
In preparation for this project, the 8th grade class attended an architectural tour to better understand the significance of the design of our church. The "journey" as you walk through the doors of the church begins with new life at the baptismal font. From there, we gather around the altar to celebrate the Eucharist. Behind the altar is the resurrection cross, representing the burdens we all carry on earth before we meet our Father in Heaven. The arch and columns are also recognizable elements of our church's design.
The church's architecture was selected as the subject of this piece as a reminder to the 8th grade students that St Gregory the Great Church will remain their "home" as they move on to their respective high schools. Working in collaboration with one another, each student created one of 25 canvases that come together as one mosaic "puzzle."
Gift this gorgeous artwork to your child as a graduation gift he/she will cherish forever as they say "goodbye" to middle school and "hello" to high school.
*The Class of 2016 would like to thank Deacon Ron Diem for hosting the architectural tour and artist Marilyn Callipari for sharing her time and expertise advising on this project. Professional framing service provided by ArtWare San Diego.
