Item Description

“Witness the union of
the inherent beauty of natural wood
with the rhythm and flow of dynamic energy
and intuitive expression.”

Described as a Surrealist and Abstract Expressionist, I create from intuition and self-expression.  My calligraphic style (which I call “The Language of Poetic Line”) reveals the intangible energy, inner movement, and complexities of the subject. My medium of choice is acrylic on birch veneer. The veneer is stained with acrylics, layered with textures, and complemented with aluminum designs. The wood’s grain presents its own rhythms and energy; creating an even deeper relationship between its natural characteristics and my intuitive self-expression. And further enhanced by the visual transparency; beautiful, calming, and deep with imagery and emotion. To see, hear, and feel beneath the painted surface, allows me to bond with the subject with increasing intensity... the real joy in my creative process! My art seeks to inspire. It speaks of the human psyche, experience, and relationships. People often say it is sensual, intellectual, entertaining. A few of the dominant influences are Kandinsky, Miro, Pollack, Dali, Calder and Erte. I continue to experiment and evolve as an artist. Expressing these universal themes in a unique and unmistakable style is paramount to the enjoyment of my journey. In each artwork, I try to awaken something, even in those who don’t ordinarily look at pictures. In each painting, I want to provide something for every level of thinking. My intent is to communicate with you, through this universal language of poetic line... through imagery and emotions... offering you a part of me, that you may find, is a part of you. Enjoy!”

I thought an abstract design would best communicate the wonder and mystery of life. Dynamic contrast, flowing contours and open to interpretation. The white area represents our birth, the purity of our soul.  The multi-colored area is our experiences woven into our existence. The black side is our eternal unknown...from nothing and back again.
