Artists
Item Description
Karen Brueggemann knew that she wanted to be an artist ever since her first box of crayons. The gods have been with her. She feels very fortunate to have been able to make a career of creating art of some kind or another, over the years. Oil paintings, watercolors, pastels, serigraph printing and copper sculpture are the mediums that she has learned and enjoyed. Six years ago Karen was introduced to the medium of polymer clay. Wow! Three dimensional color; what more could an artist ask for? After her first and only lesson, Karen knew that this would probably be her last medium.
When I received the mask I had no idea as to what I would be doing with it. After a few days of it sitting around my studio, ideas started to come. I knew I wanted to make it female and wanted it to be fun for me and others. "Nature Girl" just seemed to develop on her own, with ease. Not much thought went into her, she just sort of happened. Through the wonderfully versatile medium of polymer clay, I have had the pleasure of creating a greatly detailed "Nature Girl" from a simple, basic form.
