About Arthur Murray Center

The original Arthur Murray dance studios began more than a century ago in 1912, when the man himself began giving dance lessons in the Grand Palace building in New York City. In the decades that followed, he became the country’s most known and loved authority on dancing at a time when it was one of the most prevalent ways for people to get out and socialize with each other. Not only did he contribute to numerous books, articles, and recordings, but he also worked with some of the biggest Hollywood stars of the era, both on screen and as a coach.

One of the principles that Arthur Murray held was that any dancing school should incorporate proven lesson plans and teaching methods so that men and women of all ages could learn quickly regardless of their natural talent or previous experience. That’s still a priority at every Arthur Murray school, even though there are dozens stretching from coast to coast. We hire only the most talented and qualified dancing instructors, and use a lesson plan that continues to grow but is based on the ideas Arthur Murray himself developed so long ago.

Here in Los Angeles, our own family of Arthur Murray Studios stretches back more than four decades, starting with the Woodland Hills school. Although we’ve grown over the years, we’ve been careful to maintain our quality and reputation as the best place to learn dancing in Southern California. Whether you just want to learn a few steps, become a competitive dancer, or just see where your passion for dancing can take you, we are ready to help.

Woodland Hills & Thousand Oaks

The Woodland Hills and Thousand Oaks studios are run by Christy and Robert Melgoza, a husband and wife team from Southern California. Christy’s parents actually opened one of the very first Arthur Murray dance studios in the area during the 1950s, which inspired a life-long passion for teaching others to dance. Both Robert and Christy are award-winning competitive dancers, and thoroughly enjoy taking part in classes along with the other experienced and talented instructors.

To revitalize both locations, Robert and Christy have completely renovated and modernized the studios. An emphasis was placed on bringing a fun, energized feel back into both dance schools, as well as better integrating them into the surrounding community. The result has been a pair of studio locations where students of all backgrounds and skill levels feel comfortable and inspired to dance.

How to pick up winning items: Some items may be shipped directly from the merchant provider. In some cases, winning bidder may receive a temporary certificate or voucher until actual item or service is redeemed. Most items are available for pick-up at the temple office on or after Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Most items can be mailed or shipped to the winning bidder. Gift cards and certificates may be shipped at the risk of the bidder and may not be replaced if lost or stolen as they can not be insured by shipper. Electronic gift certificates, if available (i.e. - PDF) may be emailed at no cost to bidder. Bidder is responsible for shipping and handling fee, which will be added to the winning bid amount.
