Item Description

Framed 22x46 Embellished Canvas Giclee from Track Artist Rich Gabriel

Item Special Note

Rich Gabriel was born in 1959 and grew up in a small historic village just south of Saratoga Springs, NY.  Mr. Gabriel received his formal art education at The Kubert School in Dover, New Jersey. He continued his studies under retired New York City watercolor expert, Giacinto Capelli. Under the guidance of Mr. Capelli, a wide range of creativity and imagination were sparked in the young artist. Rich developed a passion for other mediums such as watercolors, oils and pastels.
In 1982 Mr. Gabriel began exhibiting at Saratoga Race Course. Rich displayed a wide range of original pieces from humorous thoroughbred  illustrations, to scenery paintings, to portraits. He found that his equine illustrations garnered the most attention and were immensely enjoyed by patrons from all walks of life. Rich spent the next 18 years producing humorous sports drawings for many publications, such as:  book publishers, magazines, greeting card companies, T-shirt companies and for many jockeys, trainers, horse owners and track patrons. Many of these popular illustrations have been reproduced as prints.  He also began to display his humorous style at other equine venues, including Belmont, Meadowlands,  Keeneland and Monmouth Race Tracks, as well as different sporting events throughout the Northeast.
Always looking forward to expand and reinvent himself, in 2001 Rich began displaying more vivid, lifelike oil paintings. With a fascination for the history and a passion for the nostalgia of Saratoga, he created a new array of oil paintings that tell a story and evoke heartfelt feelings. His unique ability to capture the mystique of Saratoga is portrayed in his body of work.
Today, many of Rich's original works of art, giclees and prints are on display at The Gabriel Gallery, 437 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY, Artworld Gallery, 805 Clifton Park, NY, and Saratoga Race Course mobile gallery from late July to early September. Mr. Gabriel's artwork is also represented by many independent galleries and gift shops throughout the United States. Please visit www.RichGabriel.com.
