Item Description

8 week session for Spring 2017 AfterGate Little Cultural Explorers.

Children engaged in play develop skills that serve as the building blocks for critical thinking, effective communication, problem solving, and working well with others in an ever-changing global environment. New technologies and platforms for social exchange are strengthening connections between the world’s diverse cultures and peoples. Children that possess a greater awareness of cultural difference and the symbolic meanings that underlie traditional practices are uniquely situated to exhibit tolerance and lead with non-prejudiced understanding as global citizens.

The NOLA Little Cultural Explorers 2 Program creates a learning environment designed to foster an appreciation of both the uniqueness and diversity of human culture through the art of creative play, observation, and interactive experience. Children become well versed in the poetics of cultural understanding by embarking on an educational journey that explores cultural heritage, indigenous art and folklore, traditional foodways, world music and dance, and the immense beauty of the natural environment.

Children in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 7th grade will enjoy age-appropriate activities that serve as the foundation for increased resilience, compassion, and a lifelong love of learning cultural knowledge.
