Item Description
This auction is for a plate painted by Kailyn Croxall at the Purple Hippo Art Studio.
Six pediatric cancer patients had fun painting pottery at the Purple Hippo Art Studio in the Kuniansky Family Center within the Marcus Jewish Community Center on February 28.
Less than four percent of federal funding for cancer research is allocated to pediatric cancer. Yet 430 Georgia children will be diagnosed with cancer this year. The goal of Care Affair 2016 is to raise $110,000 for Atlanta-based non-profit CURE Childhood Cancer, dedicated to conquering pediatric cancer through funding research for better and targeted treatments. Because of the hardships placed on families of cancer patients, CURE also provides support through patient and family services.

More about Kailyn who is suffering from Ewing Sarcoma.
Ewing Sarcoma.
Ewing Sarcoma is a primary bone cancer that affects mainly children & adolescents. Its the second most common bone cancer in children, but its also relatively uncommon. It accounts for only 1% of all childhood cancers. Although it can occur at any age, it very rarely occurs in adults over the age of 30. Many illnesses can cause the same symptoms as Ewing's Sarcoma, it's sometimes missed in its early stages. But early diagnosis and treatment is important. If found early enough, before it spreads to multiple organs, Ewing's sarcoma can be treated successfully in 50%- 75% of cases.
Kailyn was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. Only 200 children in the US are diagnosed with this type of cancer each year. This type of cancer typically only occurs in children and is a very aggressive type of cancer. Kailyn has undergone an intense treatment program and is about half way through. We need to find new, and better medication, to treat this disease.
