Item Description

The history of the Southwest deep in Historic Old Town of Albuquerque. Our rich, 300+ year old city was built from the grit and grind of the earliest Spanish settlers, through interaction with Native Americans, and a push from the Railroad.

Start your adventure with dinner for two at Church Street Café, one of the oldest homes in Albuquerque.  The property was originally a residence built by the Ruiz family in the early 1700s. It remained a residence until the last inhabitant, Rufina G. Ruiz died in 1991 at the age of 91. The house had never been sold and had remained in the Ruiz family since the early 18th century. The family can be traced back to Julianna Lucero and Francisco Ruiz both born around 1834. No record of their ancestors has been found, but it is quite possible the dwelling was several generations old by this time. Their daughter Sarah Ruiz, born on February 22, 1880, was Rufina's mother.  Sarah has continued to make her presence known to Marie Coleman, who renovated the building and created Church St Café.  If you’re lucky, maybe Sarah will greet you as well! With recipes dating back 4 generations, it is the best New Mexican cuisine around! If you’re dying for more hidden secrets, ask to be seated in their secret garden.

The fun isn’t over!  The Ghost Tour of Old Town provides 4 passes. Professional Tour Guides escort you on a 90-minute, lantern-lit adventure. You will search for the lost souls of early residents, Civil War phantoms, spooks, specters, wandering apparitions and over one dozen other ghosts who have made Old Town their eternal home. Learn the history and basics of Ghost Hunting as you hear the chilling stories of actual events. Old Town is one of the most actively haunted locations in North America.

After your spooky evening, you will be able to relax “ghost free” with a one night stay in a Queen Deluxe Suite for two at Casas de Suenos.  Glowing fireplaces, soft adobe walls, hidden courtyards, inviting patios and beautiful gardens accentuate the country inn and allow for a great way to relax after the day. A full American breakfast served in a sunny garden/artist studio will greet you in the morning as you prepare to enjoy the day before you venture back home.
