Item Description
The Goudey/McGavern family will sail a group of 2-6, on Zubenelgenubi, their 42’ racing sloop, from Bailey Island, ME, to the lovely Jewel Island (about a 2-4 hour sail, depending on wind conditions). Jewel Island is one of Casco Bay’s outermost Islands (see:
http://www.mainetrailfinder.com/trails/trail/jewell-island
). It’s 221 acres are uninhabited and home to the remains of World War I and World War II military installations that are exciting to explore. We will anchor in the protected harbor for the night and set up camp at the sandy beach “Punch Bowl” campsite at the NE tip of the island. A comfortable campsite will already be set up and we will provide a lobster dinner with all the trimmings. The next day we will sail back to Bailey Island. Available any two days of the summer, though must be worked out in advance and accommodate weather predictions.
