The "Tyrannosaurus" is a Junior Membership (17 years old & Under), good for (i) one year of unlimited visits for one child and (ii) a quarterly E-letter.
The Roynon Museum of Paleontology was established in 2000 as a 501©(3) non-profit foundation. The Foundation¿s primary purpose is to educate students, scouts, and the general public in earth sciences, as well as to emphasize the meaning of the sequence of life throughout geological time. The museum is a plethora of knowledge brought about by way of the thousands of specimens that have been acquired thought the years bringing into focus the overall picture of paleontology.
Mr. And Mrs. Roynon add specimens to the museum each year on their travels throughout the United States. For the past 15 years the museum has been dedicated solely to the education of school children, scouts and community groups. The next chapter in the museum's history will include the general public. A docent at the museum will take you through a sequence of life from the Precambrian to the Pleistocene showing actual fossils. Also the physical events in the earth's history, such as changing climates, volcanism, plate tectonics, and mass extinctions are brought to focus as to their overall effects on living forms.
Mr. Roynon began collecting his first fossils as a young child growing up in Santa Cruz, CA. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree at Seattle Pacific University, and continuing his education in geology at the University of Washington, he and his wife, Judy, relocated to Escondido, CA where he continued to expand his collection. Judy Roynon has been teaching elementary school in Escondido for many years. Both have devoted a lifetime towards the education of children.
