Item Description
Title: “Troubled Waters”
Dimensions: 15” x 22”
Monprint on paper
“The 30/30 Print Project gave me a welcome opportunity to experiment with some new techniques and re-visit a few familiar ones. The process was both humbling and exhilarating. The potential for unpredictable outcome in monotype printing connects directly to my primary studio work – oil painting – where improvisation and accidentals keep me guessing.
Water is a recurring theme in my abstract paintings. It suggests fluidity of time, memory and overlapping realities. In the print Troubled Waters I explore the darker side of our human inter-relationship with this essential element.”
--Gail Salzman
The 30/30 Anniversary Print Project was an exhibition and silent auction supporting the youth education scholarship programs of the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts and Burlington City Arts, in honor of the Flynn Center and BCA's 30th anniversaries. Participating artists, lead by artist/project coordinators Gregg Blasdel, Jennifer Koch and Sumru Tekin, created prints in BCA's Print Studio at 250 Main Street, as well as the studio of Jennifer Koch.
