Item Description
Patty McAuliffe is a printmaker working mainly in "etching." She has her drawing and printmaking studio, called Songbird Studios, in her home in Westminster, Colorado. Enjoying realism in her drawing, Patty has a background as a certified botanical illustrator from Denver Botanical Gardens. Currently she is enjoying drawing birds and animals and sometimes these become fun and whimsical. She then takes these drawings to another level by painstakingly creating zinc or copper plates of them. She etches a drawing onto the metal plate using acid. She then inks, wipes and prints the etched image onto paper using her etching press. Etching is her magical, fun and surprising art form.
"Youthful Ewe Goes out to Pasture" is a mask of a subtle smiling lamb. Are we not all eternally youthful? At least we tend to think so, even as we retire and become "seniors." This mask was created by texturing the mask to be the lamb's body and then using a cut apart etching to add face and legs.
