Item Description
It's movie night at KPCC, hosted by your favorite public radio host, AirTalk's Larry Mantle!
A message to the winning bidder from Larry:
"Our next movie in the 'Larry Mantle Film Series' is the 1992 movie industry satire The Player. It's directed by one of my favorites, Robert Altman, and written by Michael Tolkin, who adapted his own novel.
Tim Robbins stars as studio executive Griffin Mill. Mill's been receiving postcards with death threats, and he suspects a rejected screenwriter is sending them. It's a great excuse for a relentless send-up of the Industry's faddishness, neuroses, and ruthlessness.
Sixty Hollywood celebrities are said to appear in the film, but the evocative Los Angeles-area locations are also highlights. The nearly eight-minute-long unedited opening seen is also unforgettable.
Join us before the screening for pizza, movie treats, and soft drinks. After The Player, a special guest will join us in conversation. I hope to see you there at our Crawford Family Forum." - Larry Mantle, AirTalk host
