CAMP FARWELL FOR GIRLS - One Week Camp Experience during Rookie Week in Newbury, VT
Your young girl will enjoy a One (1) week camp experience during Rookie Week, August 14-19 (Girls ages 5-11 who are first time campers) at Camp Farwell in Newbury, VT, situated in the Green Mountain State on Halls Lake. Camper must be between the ages 6-12 and a new camper to Camp Farwell. Welcome to Camp Farwell - the first girls sleepaway summer camp in Vermont, New England and the first girls summer camp in the United States. Our magnificent 100-acre site offers a wonderful location for a rich variety of activities from riding to water sports, from music and dance to team endeavors and individual pursuits. If there were three ingredients that could be said to form each girls Camp Farwell experience, they would be friendship, community spirit, and a warm family environment. At the heart of the Camp Farwell experience is an underlying belief in the importance of personal growth, self-confidence, and an appreciation for natures beauty. Camp Farwell has thrived as a New England girls overnight summer camp for over 120 years and through each summer the camp has continued to draw enthusiastic campers returning for their second or fifth season, new campers who leave with a heightened sense of beauty and friendship, and a dedicated staff who love the work they do and respect the role that Camp Farwell plays in the campers lives. Why Camp Farwell Farwell is THE place where girls can learn, play, practice and rehearse for what comes next in their life. Farwell is the first and oldest girls camp in the United States (maybe the world!). Founded in 1889, Farwell has been continuously running for 127 years. Our campers are part of our legacy. Girls Empowerment Program woven into the fabric of everyday camp life: SHINE Family owned and run since 1978 the Hansons have 97 years of camping experience! One of the Lowest camper to staff ratios in all of camping less than 2.5:1 Completely elective (but accountable) activity program your daughter only participates in the activities she elects. Diverse community with campers from all over the US and world (12% come from abroad). We celebrate our differences and host special International Days throughout the summer. The BEST Horseback Riding Programin all of camping! * girls ride 5 days a week Monday-Friday * option to ride once or twice a day * ring lessons offered in one of our four riding arenas * trail rides in the beautiful green mountains of Vermont (we also have a hunt field for more advanced riders!) * 9 distinct levels of instruction * classes offered in Stable Skills, Horse Theory and Vaulting * small riding classes of 2-4 girls Traditional camping program that promotes a can do attitude to enhance girls self-confidence. Safe Location we are physically located at the end of a one-way private road and we are the only summer camp on Halls Lake. We know all of our neighbors very well and have many local friends. Only 20 minutes to the closest hospital and 40 minutes to Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital. Management Team is second to none (with 141 years of camping experience and leadership at Farwell). Open Communication Policy parents can call/email/text/Whats App Marley any time to see how their daughter is doing. All parents are provided with Marleys personal cell phone number on the opening day of camp. Parents can even check in on the first night! After one week at Camp Farwell, campers can call home with camp provided cell phones! No cost to you or your child. Advanced 3 Year Counselor-In-Training and Leadership Program offering certifications in Baby sitting & First Aid and Life Guarding. Also, Marley provides summer and year long college admission counseling. Housing: Our campers live in solid log cabins each with a flush toilet and sink for night time use.
