Item Description

Enjoy 2 hours of rock climbing at The Cliffs at LIC, NYC's largest climbing gym followed by local activities and eats in Long Island City led by Adam Isler and Nancy Hsu

This experience can be enjoyed by students and/or adults.

For students: Before or after climbing, winners will be treated to a picnic on the LIC waterfront. Optional add-on: Nancy will take students to watch a movie to round out the day! Parents can pick up their kids from the movie theater.  

For adults: Before or after climbing, winners will be treated to lunch at an LIC restaurant and a visit to a local brewery.

Adam Isler is MCS' Development and Alumni Relations Associate. Before and after receiving a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University at Buffalo, Adam pursued work in digital marketing & advertising until taking on a full-time role with MCS in March of 2013. He has held a variety of positions for companies including Likeable Media, Solve Media & Manhattan Edit Workshop.

When Adam isn’t on E 96th St, he can be found at live music events around New York, yelling at the TV during Knicks games, and traveling the globe like many other amazing MCS staff.

Nancy Hsu is MCS' Parent Fundraising and Special Events Coordinator. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from Barnard College. Prior to joining the MCS development office, she helped start a nonprofit foreign policy organization for next generation leaders. 

Nancy’s interests include languages and travel. Her dream is to become fluent in at least five languages (2.5 down, 2.5 to go!) and to visit every continent (4 down, 3 to go!).

The Cliffs at LIC is an indoor playground for all ages! While each child is different, we generally find that kids are ready to start climbing around 5 years old.

GEAR

Kids can scale our walls in their sneaks or rent climbing shoes (sizes may be limited) with their harness at the front desk.

TERRAINS

As first-time climbers, kids can try bouldering, a style of climbing on shorter walls without ropes. Or they can rope up with our auto-belays, which automatically pull the rope up as they scale our towering walls.

• Only members of the MCS community may bid on this experience!
• Redeemable on most Fridays and limited Saturdays in June and July 2016
  
• Valid for up to 4 MCS students or adults in the MCS community 
• Experience includes passes to The Cliffs, lunch, snacks and movie tickets
• Must fill out a Cliffs at LIC waiver for all participants in advance
