Item Description
Bluegrass Materials Company Tour of Texas Quarry for up to 16 People
Do you like to know how things work? This is your chance to see behind the scenes of Texas Quarry in Cockeysville, Maryland.
The Texas Quarry is the deepest hole on the Eastern seaboard. It is our largest quarry and produces approximately 3 million tons annually. Our crew of employees are hard-working and dedicated. There are generations of families that have worked here! Once people begin in this business, they are inclined to dedicate themselves to it. It is rich in history and quite interesting!
The tour is guided by Dave Thomey who has been in this business for many years and is versed on the characteristics of various stone. You will be taken into the upper rim of the pit where our guests can view the high wall. You may see some of the heavy machinery in action, run by our men or women employed here. The tour is lead to our Overlook where you can see the entire quarry. This is the only area our guests are allowed off of the bus. It is here most people can take pictures. It is quite beautiful really.
Generously donated by Blue Grass Materials, Texas Quarry, 10,000 Beaver Damn Road, Cockeysville, Maryland.
