Beatrice Trautman lives in Morrison, Colorado at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. She received a B.A. in Design from U.C. Berkeley and has worked as an art teacher, metalsmith, interior designer, jewelry designer and mother. Aside from family, her passion is painting. She works in watercolor, oil and acrylic, both abstract and representational. Her love of the Southwest and her travels throughout the world have influenced her paintings which uniquely capture her sense of patterns, texture and color in her subject matter. Her work is found in corporate and private collections, has been juried into various exhibitions, won awards and can be viewed on her website at www.beatricetrautman.com.
I love Mexican Folk Art and particularly that of The Day of the Dead art or Dia de los Muertos. This mask is an interpretation of that form of folk art. For those unfamiliar with this national holiday, around November 2 in Mexico, it is a celebration for remembering deceased family members.
