Item Description

Bid on a piece of local art by Kenneth Gunnells!

Acrylic Painter

Kenneth Gunnells, a native of Carrollton, Georgia, is a self-taught artist who works solely with acrylic paint on canvas.  He began painting at the age of thirteen and was influenced initially by the fast, effortless creations of Bob Ross; however, he rejected oils as a medium and chose acrylics for their brilliance and faster drying capabilities.

As the years passed, he discovered techniques to capture the quick studies of landscapes and seascapes which provided instant gratification from his work. His muse and inspiration come from the natural beauty of the environment, the impact of reflection and the sense of intimacy with his surroundings.  Over time, Ken developed his own style and approach to painting as well as allowing the seeds of patience to grow to the point that “effortless” is a rare thought while he creates.

In his continuing development as an artist, Ken has recently plunged into other genres to challenge himself, including contemporary work, recreations of Renaissance pieces and portraiture.  As a result Ken has developed a comprehensive repertoire of subject matter ranging from the surreal to abstract impressionism.

As an artist, he believes “Every person should own an original work of art that invokes an emotional response to them, no matter the monetary value or that person’s station in life.”

Dogwood City Art Gallery is most pleased to offer this exhibition of Kenneth’s art, Alabaster Nights.
