Item Description
“Original Monkey” by Lane Jacobus, grade 6
Watercolor and colored pencil on paper
This portrait -- a bow-tied primate -- is a fun, happy piece. Lane's inspiration was the black and white mage of the original Mickey Mouse. He captured the essence of the old image and infused bold color and simian features.
"I decided to draw a monkey in that style and I was trying to convey something old in a new way," Lane wrote.
