Item Description
The saga of the Heslip Family Winery began in 1977 when Brian Heslip purchased a property in Novato that contained a small Zinfandel vineyard dating back to pre-prohibition when the area was primarily vineyards and orchards. Brian and an experienced neighbor combined their grape harvest and began to make wine.
Over the last twenty-five years Brian cultivated his grapes, gained knowledge, refined the art of winemaking and married the lively Colleen. Together they produced many memorable vintages and a fine son. A gregarious couple with a passion for gardening, cooking and entertaining, the family compound soon expanded with a handsome Craftsman style stone building that houses the winery and The Guest House Bed & Breakfast.
Encouraged by knowledgeable friends Brian and Colleen bonded and licensed the winery in 1998. The first commercial release of Sangiovese and Pinot Noir quickly sold out and established their reputation for making big hearty, fruity, nose-friendly reds.
