Item Description

Sightsailing of Newport offers a sailing cruise and tour of Newport Harbor for four aboard the Schooner Aquidneck that is sure to be the highlight of a visit to Newport!  Aquidneck is a beautiful, traditional, 80 foot gaff-rigged schooner.   Named after Aquidneck Island (the location of Newport, RI) Aquidneck was designed for safety and comfort. Teak benches and plenty of chair-height cabin tops to sit or lie down on provide comfortable seating for everyone.  Guests are able to move about the decks with ease, and may help raise sails and participate in the sailing or sit back and relax.

A typical sailing cruise takes you through Newport Harbor into Narragansett Bay (where the Pell Newport Bridge is) and along the shoreline of Newport’s Ocean Drive. Although the Schooner Aquidneck does not follow a set route, you'll see the major sights including Goat Island, where the U.S. Navy made most of the torpedoes used in WWII, Fort Adams, one of the largest forts on the East Coast, Hammersmith Farm, the summer Whitehouse of JFK, and Clingstone, an iconic home perched on a rocky outcropping. Vintage America’s Cup boats, lighthouses, superyachts and weekly races are common sights.  Sailing cruises are approximately 1 and 3/4 hours in length.
