Item Description
Kathleen McKenna was born in Connecticut and raised in Rhode Island. Kathleen was always involved with visual arts. She enjoyed painting, sculpting, sketching and volunteering at local art festivals. Life happened, she married a Naval officer, had kids and moved around the world, temporarily postponing the creative side of her. Kids grew up, grandkids came, husband retired and Kathleen found a love of colored glass. She began breaking and cutting it to create unique Mosaic Art. Kathleen's work is held in private collections all over the world. Bottles, Mosaic Skulls and Guitars are among her most sought after works.
"Dream Catcher" is made of stained glass, recycled glass, marble and crystal beads, sea shell and a one-of-a-kind lmap-work cabochon by Australian glass artist Val Vaania. In creating this year's mask, I was inspired by a young 8 year-old boy from my home state of Rhode Island. His name is Dorian Murran (#dstrong) and sadly he lost his battle with pediatric cancer in March of this year. He was a dreamer of big things and ideas. He inspired those around him to do better, be nicer and be strong. I did not know him or his family personally but hope he would have liked the mask.
