Item Description
Hillary Reed grew up in Boulder and has lived in the Denver area since. Hillary owned and operated Hillary Reed Interiors, her interior design firm, for over 30 years. She has been painting since 2009, with a focus on watercolor portraits. Lately, Hillary has been pursuing experimental techniques in watercolor collage, while also exploring painting in acrylics and oil. Hillary is an award winning artist and a Signature Member of both the Colorado Watercolor Society and the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies. “I love that there comes a point when the painting seems to paint itself. I was inspired to paint for the mask project because Hospice’s dedication is an inspiration to me,” Hillary says.
The inspiration for "Petal Painting" was the arrival of spring, and with it the many blooming flowers. This mask is composed of real flower petals that were repainted to restore their orginal color using watercolor. This experiment in petal painting gives an entirely new perspective to what flowers in nature can represent.
