Item Description

The 2012 harvest was an exceptional year. Growing conditions throughout the year were ideal for producing an abundant amount of mature grapes with balanced flavors. Randy Peters, Erik's partner, and fourth generation Zinfandel winegrower, said "This is the best Zinfandel I've seen in my 42 year career of growing this varietal." Aside from our estate vineyard Timber Crest, we source this Zinfandel from other well-known vineyards in Dry Creek, which include Pauline's, Mounts and Tre Torrente Vineyards. Harvesting from these locations allowed is to create a classic representation of the Dry Creek Valley appellation.

This vineyard is located on Dry Creek Road directly across the street from the winery. It is farmed by Randy Peters, who was born on the property and is named after his late mother, Pauline. The soil is made up of the famous Cortina soil. The Block is planted with the old mother clone that Randy's great grandfather planted in the 1800's.

Tasting Notes

We have two rows of Petite Sirah planted in our vineyard that we pick with the Zinfandel and create a co-fermentation. The co-fermentation makes up 2% of the blend adding spice and depth.

This viscous Zinfandel is all parts great, with a banner year, a world class appellation, and a vineyard made with the famous Cortina soil. Bursting with black cherry, coco, strawberry, and aroma, this wine has astonishing interwoven flavors of, pepper, Asian spices, and a finish that just will not quit.
