A four season destination in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Wintergreen Resort sits on 11,000 picturesque acres adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Located in Central Virginia, just over 30 miles southwest of Charlottesville and less than 150 miles from Washington, D.C., Wintergreen Resort is best known throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast U.S. states as a family friendly resort for winter skiing and other snow sports, plus year round golf, tennis, hiking and many other outdoor pursuits.

The elevation of the resort property stretches from about 600 feet above sea level in the valley area of Stoney Creek to almost 4,000 feet above sea level at the mountain peaks of Devils Knob and Blackrock. On some days during the winter season at Wintergreen Resort, it is possible to ski and play golf on the same day.

Wintergreen Resort Winter Snow Sports

Skiing and Snowboarding - The resort features more than 25 slopes and trails, including several with lights for night skiing. Skill levels range from beginner to expert and the longest run is 1.4 miles. There are five chairlifts and two terrain parks with snow features, jibs and rails. In addition, the resort has 100 percent snow making capabilities.

Snowtubing - Discovery Ridge Adventure Center features The Plunge, Virginia's largest snowtubing park with a 900-foot, 10-lane snowtubing hill, plus a tubing and play area for young children.

There is also a 900-foot zipline, as well as other indoor and outdoor activities.

Ice Skating - An ice rink is located in the Wintergreen Resort mountain village.

The Snowsports School - Wintergreen Resort offers group and private programs for all ages and ability levels. The sign-up desk is at the Skyline Pavilion Ski Center.

Golf and Tennis at Wintergreen Resort

Golf Courses - Golfers at Wintergreen Resort are able to enjoy 45 holes of championship golf on two courses. Open year round, Stoney Creek Golf Course which was designed by Rees Jones is located in the valley. The other course, Devils Knob Golf Course which is situated on the mountaintop was designed by Donald Ross protégé Ellis Maples. At an elevation of 3,850 feet, Devils Knob is the highest golf course in Virginia. Both Wintergreen Resort golf courses are rated among the top courses in the state. The Wintergreen Golf Academy offers private and semi-private lessons for adults and children.
