Item Description

A naked raku vessel is ready to take center stage on your coffee table or library shelf.

This piece is wheel thrown by Ruth Worrall of Ruth Worrall Pottery. She is a potter with 15 years of experience, and a member of Cape Ann Artisans Open Studios. Originally from Equador, Ruth is inspired by nature and several potters who have preceeded her with the time honored process of rake firing. She takes immense care to create the form and combine it with the raku firing method to create one of a kind art vessels.

Dimensions are 8” width by 7” tall.

"Creating ceramics has intrigued me ever since I was a child. Growing up in Ecuador I gathered mud and water to form small bowls, but after coming to the United States at age 16 it remained a forgotten activity. In my mid-twenties I took a pottery class in Maine. It filled my life with excitement, but for much too short a time. For fifteen years afterward my interest in pottery lingered in a dormant state until I went back to college. I took a pottery class and discovered the magic of pliable, durable, malleable, delicate clay! The endless potentials of this medium enticed me and I continued to pursue Ceramics as part of my art degree. As I worked toward a BA in Photography I was also invited to show my sculpture and ceramics at the school gallery. Upon graduation I taught elementary and middle school art." - Ruth Worrall

Ceramics Instructor at The Hive, Cape Ann Art Haven's art center for teens and adults.

Born in Ecuador, South America, Ruth has followed many paths. While listening to her heart and working persistently towards her goals, she continues to explore creativity in the hopes that she can share her passion with others. She concentrates on functional ceramics and works instinctually on these simple yet elegant vessels. After graduating with a BA in Photography, Ruth taught elementary and middle school art. Currently she works at her home studio in Gloucester, has been a member of the Rocky Neck Gallery since 2011 and sells work at various stores in the North Shore area.
