Item Description

This silent auction item will be presented for final bidding at our annual picnic on Thursday, August 4th.

Northport summer resident and London-based sports-book author Ross Biddiscombe will host three golfers for a Ryder Cup-themed round of golf at the private Northport Point Golf Club. He will also offer a special presentation of his controversial talk 'How the USA Can Win Back the Ryder Cup' at a Leelanau golf club or venue of your choice.

This item centers on Ross' book Ryder Cup Revealed: Tales of the Unexpected which uncovers a host of exclusive, behind-the-scenes Ryder Cup stories dating back even before the matches began in 1927. It's been called "a great book" by Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper, "gets under the skin of the event" according to Golf Monthly, and is "totally engaging," says Sandy Jones, chief executive of the PGA.

A round of golf at Northport Point Golf Club will give three golfers a chance to quiz the author about his book and the history of the Ryder Cup. All three will also receive a signed copy of the book.

In addition, Ross will visit a golf club or venue of the winning bidder's choice within the Leelanau Peninsula where he will deliver his hour-long presentation that provides a compelling preview of the 2016 Ryder Cup that takes place at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota at the end of September.
