Item Description
Although I am not a professional artist, in fact by degree I am a speech pathologist and audiologist, I have always loved to dabble in art. I paint a little and do some sculpting also. I spent 12 years at the Denver Art Museum as a docent and have painted a mask for the MASK Project since its inception. I am active in the charity community at large with The Denver Hospice being at the top of the list of my favorite charities. So once again, I am painting a mask and this time in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Mask Project.
I have named this mask “The Lady in the Fancy Hat”.
This mask is in memory of the past generation of women in my family, my beloved mother and my two favorite aunts. Whenever I picture them I remember them wearing beautiful hats. They wore hats to luncheons or even just to lunch with friends and downtown to shop for clothes before the days of shopping malls and centers. I know if they were still with me to see this mask, it would definitely put a smile on their faces.
