Item Description

There has been little down time since my retirement from the Kent Denver School where I was Administrative Assistant to the Head of the School. After completing courses in criminal justice, I volunteered with the Victim Assistance Unit for the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, served two terms on the Board of Trustees of Kent Denver, and am presently on the Executive Board of the Children's Diabetes Foundation Guild. There have been many wonderful trips in the U.S. and abroad. I love to read, and am having a great time finding the "right stuff" for the flat I recently moved into. Most importantly, I'm able to spend time with my children, grandchildren, friends and my two-year-old schnauzer, Holly. I was introduced to the Mask Project by a long time artist friend. The inspiration for this mask is my two Chinese granddaughters, now 17 and 19. I recently returned from Beijing where my daughter and I spent two weeks being tourists while visiting the 17-year-old who participated in the School Year Abroad program. She will graduate from high school next year. The 19-year-old, an accomplished gymnast, just finished her freshman year of college, where she rowed crew. Although I am not an artist, this was a fun project and I am delighted to participate for such a worthwhile cause.
