MICHIGAN BEER PAIRING 5 COURSE DINNER for 8
THE NEW MISSION ORGANICS HOP YARD in OMENA
Join us for dinner in the bines. That’s right, hop bines! Hop cones, the source of lupulin which is the bittering agent in beer and responsible for much of its aroma, are produced on a beautiful, vine-like plant called a bine that at full maturity will reach 20 feet into the sky. Hop bines are supported by a trellis structure similar to what you see in a vineyard, only much taller. Peak season for visiting a hop yard is between July and September. This far North, harvest is typically right after Labor Day.
Brian and Amy Tennis, founding members of the Michigan Hop Alliance, specialize in boutique hop varieties and are proud to supply Short’s Brewing Company, Grand Rapids Brewing Company, Brewery Vivant, The Filling Station, Mackinaw Brewing Company, Brewery Terra Firma, Stormcloud, Rare Bird, Hop Lot and many other award-winning breweries.
Dinner to be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time when the hop bines are high on the trellis, ideally between July 1 and August 31, 2017 or 2018.
