Item Description

In celebration of Janine's love of Longhorns Cattle, we present a great, autographed photograph of "Bluegrass" who will be in Forth Worth this fall to be sold at auction at The Fort Worth Stockyards!

Fort Worth really wants to buy "Bluegrass" and give him a happy home, with loads of new Longhorn friends and Cowgirls and Cowboys  at The Fort Worth Stockyards!  Can you imagine seeing seeing Bluegrass with the herd twice daily walk down Exchange Street at the Stockyards?   I'm there!

Autographed Canvas Photo will be on 12 x 16 canvas, Unframed.

"In this photo June 1, 2016 and provided by Kristin Jaworski, a steer named Bluegras, mills about the Lazy J Ranch in Greenleaf, Kansas. The Fort Worth Herd is trying to hook the nearly 10-foot horns of Bluegrass, a world-record holding steer in Kansas who is scheduled to be sold at auction this fall in the Fort Worth Stockyards. Kristin Jaworski via AP"

All eyes will be on Bluegrass, "who was deemed to have the longest horn span at 117.25 inches on Oct. 4, 2014, and again on Sept. 27, 2015, with 119.5 inches, according to Lazy J Longhorns in Greenleaf, Kansas. Guinness World Records flew a team in from London to do the official measuring.

Valentine said she's trying to get an official measuring again at the auction because she predicts the span is at least 120 inches now and still growing. "Bluegrass is not done," she said.

And that's what has Kristin Jaworski, trail boss of the Herd, the twice-daily cattle drive of Texas longhorns down Exchange Avenue in the Stockyards, so excited.  Jaworski wants Bluegrass in Fort Worth and a member of the Herd, which is sponsored by the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau.

She said she traveled to Kansas a couple weeks ago to see the steer, and while she was standing at the fence, he came running to her as if saying, "You're here to see me, bring me to Fort Worth."  Bluegrass' owner, Joe Sedlacek, confirmed that. He said Bluegrass is normally very calm, but when he saw Jaworski, he started bucking and kicking. "I've never seen him do that before," Sedlacek said.

Item Special Note

Janine Turner is a registered breeder of Longhorn Cattle:

"Janine writes, “Why do I love Longhorns? Longhorns epitomize Texas. Longhorns traveled the Chisholm Trail. Longhorns strolled through the Fort Worth Stockyards. Longhorns are beautiful. Longhorns are unique – each and every one of them is a different color with a different design. The white ones are so fuzzy and snowy….I love them all!!

My Longhorns are registered and I am a member of the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association. I breed to keep the WR line pure, but I bred one cow, Big Mama, with G-Man. G-Man's son, Heavy Hitter, has the longest recorded horn spread. My cow, Big Mama, had his half-sister, Revolution. She has a 58 3/4 inch spread to her horns. She is a beauty.

I firmly believe in maintaining the integrity of the animal. I don't believe in messing with mother- nature too much. I believe the breed should not be manipulated for man's taste to the point the genuineness of their breed is compromised. If you have land and would like to purchase Longhorns for eye candy- not beef- just peruse my Longhorn photos. E- Mail inquiries to JanineTurner.net for more photos. They are only bred for pleasure.”
