Item Description
"Beauties of the Red Mansion" Music Box, Pao Chai, No. B2884
Precious porcelain graced the royal court of the Emperor of china centuries before it appeared in Europe. But few are as appealing to the heart as well as the eye as the "Pao Chai" Heirloom Porcelain music box.
Pao Chai, whose name is Chinese for precious clasp, is a masterpiece as stunning and delightful as any oriental antique. The fine porcelain is hand-decorated in jade-like tones in a combination of smooth and marbleized surfaces. The triple-fired, glaze finish achieves a shimmering luster of depth and richness. Gleaming, hand-applied 22K gold surrounds the imagery and adorns the banded pedestal and lid. A hand-painted, sculptural fan crowns the limited edition. Ornate golden handles enhance the feel of timeless antiquity. The graceful heroine Pao Chai dances delicately from the pages of the 18th-century romantic novel A Dream of Red Mansions as the melody of "The Emperor's Waltz" plays from an 18-note musical movement.
3-1/8" x 4" with handles extending another 3/4" on each side.
Matching Plate is item 372!
