Artists
Item Description
Growing up in a supportive family, Avery’s grandmother encouraged the artist’s exploration of art, while her grandfather fostered an interest in music. Fortunately, her parents supported her in both and thus set the stage for the artist’s creative growth.
Avery attended Arizona State University in pursuit of a Bachelor of Fine arts degree with an emphasis in painting. During her college years, the artist also discovered a passion for ceramic and fiber arts, as well as printmaking. She graduated manga cum laude in 2009. “What interests me the most is the exploration of relationship” states the artist. Avery is particularly drawn to the interaction of spatial and color connections and “how, in my mind, they communicate personal and human relationship.”
The artist loves working in a collaborative studio environment. “I feed off the energy it produces.” Outside interests include knitting, cooking, and a challenging hike “to clear my mind.”
