Item Description
Jeremy Speck is a native Colorado artist trying to make his mark on the world through supporting local charities with his sculptures. He has supported the Mask Project for 14 years and every year he tries to “out-do” his previous years mask. Jeremy has been experimenting with carbon fiber lately and building custom racecar parts out of the exotic material. This experience inspired him to use it on this year’s mask.
This mask is titled “Carbon”. Each Mask Project I try to build a sculpture with my mask and this year I used aircraft grade carbon fiber as my medium. Carbon requires a very complicated and precise process to execute a perfect finish. I love the way it looks when it gets clear epoxy coated; it gives off a beautiful magnification effect when looking at different angles. The mask was pigmented with chalk and then clear epoxy finished. On the base you can see my custom designed periodic hexagon representing the electrons per shell 2 / 4 on the outer line.
