Item Description
This mask, by Wendy Hedquist Bartlett, is sponsored by The Printed Page Bookshop, a used bookstore located in a Victorian house on South Broadway’s Antique Row. Wendy is one of many booksellers at this co-op, ranked #3 on Westword’s “10 Best Bookstores in Denver” list. Shop owners are Dan Danbom and John Frantzen. When not selling books, Wendy often sketches, paints and experiments in art. She loves to incorporate color, fun, nature, everyday objects and practicality in her projects. This is her third mask for The Mask Project, each in memory of her sister Ann Marlene Bailey who benefited from hospice care.
Who could possibly forget anything important with this colorful, whimsical "reminder mask" staring at them? Entitled "Forget-Me-Not," it celebrates nature as well as all the wonderful people served in such a caring way by The Denver Hospice. To create the mask, the artist carved flowers and leaves with a wood engraver, outlined them in black, then painted everything else in vivid color. She also drilled into the mask to insert handmade button flowers/memo holders. Titled: "Forget-Me-Not"
