Item Description

Artist June Jurow in collaboration with her 9 year old son Alexander created this mask entitled "I See You." A Canadian-born writer, artist, painter and photographer, Jurow has traveled and lived around the world and has exhibited her works in galleries in Canada, Europe and Asia. Her specialty has been capturing ocean, sea life and landscapes.

This piece is dedicated to her own mother and showcasing her son's budding talent with the inspiration coming from Alex's observation that dealing with illness is like wearing a mask. We do our very best to keep moving forward every day in our daily lives no matter what is going on inside. This mask is symbolic and an acknowledgment of the strength, courage, love, resilience and determination of anyone who has struggled with illness and specifially this is dedicated to all Alzheimer patients, caregivers and families. No matter what the road ahead holds for anyone, what we all do is keep our heads held up high and move forward. I see your strength, beauty and courage. There is such incredible inspiration in seeing resilience, courge, hope, fight, love. Remembering is a gift and hope is like a light as we all work hard in embracing awareness and in finding cures. One day at a time we embrace our loved ones with love and share and keep the memories alive. Like in any stage of any disease, we do our very best to handle and cope each step of the way with dignity, strength, beauty and courage.
