Item Description

Sarah Van Beckum is a nationally known and published Denver based artist. Her work can be found in galleries and corporate collections worldwide. Says Sarah, "My father passed away one month ago. He lived a good long life and somehow, as much as I adored this man and was deeply saddened to see him leave this earth, I found as I witnessed his death, a certain perfection and beauty in his dying. Here’s to the joy of life and now on to a life elsewhere and unknown."

About the Mask: Acrylic paint with metal E shapes picked up from an industrial area in a coastal city in Chile. Mask depicts the joy, sadness, and love in life. Nature’s forms are a major source of inspiration in Sarah’s art. Images imprint themselves on our consciousness as we see them. But time fades explicit memory. What remains is buried deep within, and evokes emotion upon recall. Sarah strives to reflect that emotional memory in her art. Her art is full of abstractions but also reveals imagery suggestive of something more established and concrete.
