Item Description

Dru Marie Robért works professionally as an artist, -- painting and drawing. A former illustrator and designer in the commercial art and aerospace industries, she obtained her BA in Studio Art at the Colorado College and has studied at the Scottsdale Artists School, Denver Arts Students League, and the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.

Dru came to a deep appreciation for the landscape and skyscapes (as well as road trips) quite naturally. She lived and moved over much of the southern and eastern U.S. as a young girl, and has since enjoyed exploring the US and Europe. An inveterate student, she relishes any opportunity to immerse herself in the landscapes, people, and cultures of her destinations.

She divides her practice between direct painting & drawing and creating developed studio works of memorable or seemingly insignificant landscapes, briefly glimpsed scenarios, and figures.  She often renders her subjects from unique viewpoints or combines organic elements with the man-made. Sensitively rendered color plays a strong role in her work.

By virtue of living in idyllic Colorado and having her paints, pencils, and camera as her steady companions when she is traveling or out and about, Dru is able to create works that extend memories, -- both for her and those who choose to own her work.  Dru’s art has garnered a number of awards and is featured in corporate and private collections in the United States, as well as internationally.

“Twinkle,” represents the vastness of the hospice experience -- for family, friends, caregivers, and the one who is preparing to make his/her transition. Uncertainty may prevail at this time, yet in the mist of these clouds of unknowing, the stars represent the illumination of precious gifts, -- moments that may slip into, pierce, and reverberate . . . heightening the awareness of any on this journey together.  The moon lends her mystic witness and abiding presence.

The image for this mask was adapted from Dru’s painting of the same name (“Twinkle”) which may be viewed at www.DruMarieRobert.com.
