Item Description
Bid on this limited edition Olivier Adam photographic print of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Ideal for display where you meditate, work, or live, the photograph was taken in front of statue built for the filming of director Martin Scorcese's Kundun.
The statue was made by the set designer Dante Ferretti. At the end of the making of the movie it remained at the Atlas Studio in Morocco where the movie was shot. In 1999 the artist Sonia Deotto was commissioned to design and create an art installation at the “Rotonda della Besana” in Milan including a backdrop for His Holiness the Dalai Lama at a celebration in his honor and was offered the statue as a donation. In June 2012 the statue was moved to the Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa, where it is currently being restored. The donation of the statue to the Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa was made official on June 2014 during the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Olivier Adam was trained as a physicist and gradually turned to photography through the years. He is working now as a freelance photographer and teaches in Paris within the school of photography Auguste Renoir. He has collaborated with Sofia Stril-Rever, Matthieu Ricard, and Manuel Bauer on the publication of the book Kalachakra: A Mandala for Peace, published in 2008 and is a regular contributor to various magazines. Olivier also works for His Holiness Dalai Lama's Private Office as photographer during the Dalai Lama's visits to Europe.
