ABOUT THE ARTIST:  Elly Fitzig
Elly Fitzig grew up in Trenton, New Jersey with a beloved cocker spaniel named Kasey. She has a degree in art education from Douglass College of Rutgers University and has taught in the Philadelphia Public Schools, at the Cleveland Museum of Art, and at the Wichita Art Museum. Besides dogs and art, she also loves creative writing and history, and she has produced articles, poems, lyrics, and several unpublished books. Elly also studied blacksmithing, designed needlepoint canvases, and managed Benjamin Franklin’s genealogy records for the Friends of Franklin, Inc., an international organization, always working in the company of her fuzzy rescued “kids” from the Kansas Humane Society. In November of 2001, Elly began a ten-year project during which she finished a painting each day, until arriving at her goal of 3600 works. In 2009 she was honored to be the KMUW – Wichita Public Radio 89.1 - Fall fundraising artist, as well as the featured artist at ArtAID16. Still going strong, Elly and her sidekick Fluffy, a westie rescue, now live in South Carolina and can be reached at elly3@me.com.
