Item Description
(Dallas Area Only Auction Item)
Enjoy a beer regarded as the Best Beer in the World. The Westvleteren 12 is rated 100 points. The Westvleteren 12 is not commercially available and sold in very small quantities as it is available from the doors of the monastery in Belgium to individual buyers after reservation only. Brouwerij Westvleteren (Flemish) or Westvleteren Brewery is located in the small town of Vleteren near the French border. It is extremely rare and sought after by beer collectors worldwide. This beer was made available for consumption at an international beer festival and the festival sold out in 4 minutes.
Brouwerij Westvleteren is the only brewery where monks only still brew the beer. As with all other Trappist breweries, the beer is only sold in order to financially support the monastery and other philanthropic causes.
When asked why they do not brew more beer, Father Abbott stated, "We are not brewers. We are monks. We brew beer to be able to afford being monks."
The winner of the auction will make arrangements with Rich for a beer tasting in Dallas, TX. Four bottles of Westvleteren Beer will be available for you and friends to enjoy a beer tasting. It will be hosted at the Craft & Growler Beer Filling Station in Dallas. Additional beer flights will be available for the tasting as well. The winner will work with Rich to have the tasting prior to January 31, 2017. Rich will also pay for Uber transportation home upon the conclusion of the tasting.
