Item Description

My item for this auction is a handmade knife and sheath package. I make these items start to finish in my spare time in my home shop. This is knife serial number 2015-05, build date 30 January 2016. Knife steel is 1084 carbon Steel. Handle material is stabilized sycamore and rosewood with brass pins. Steel thickness @ 5/32". I would classify this knife as a small skinner. This knife was built from a billet of steel (stock removal), then quench hardened and tempered. Hardness should be high 50s Rockwell. Scales (handle) are mounted using epoxy and pins and then finished with oil.

Sheath is also handmade using 5-7 ounce leather, dyed antique tan, oiled and finished. Sheath is a vertical right-side carry for up to a 2" belt.

Knife overall length- 7", (blade 3 1/8", handle 3 7/8"). Overall length in the sheath is 7 5/8".

The knife blade is NOT stainless. Carbon Steel is a traditional material which has several advantages over stainless steel such as edge retention, willingness to take a keen edge, and its ability to gain a very high polish. However, the main downfall of carbon steel is that it will rust if not properly cared for.

Purchaser is responsible for compliance with local regulations. As with all sharp objects, this knife presents certain hazards, proper use of this knife is the responsibility of the purchaser.

Knife and sheath are available now.
