Seven Bottle Vertical Gundlach Bundschu Vintage Reserve

Value: $700

You’ll receive three bottles of the 2010 vintage and two bottles each from the 2011 and 2012 vintages.

Since 1981, the Bundschu family has crafted a limited bottling from themost elegant and expressive barrels of the vintage with the designationVintage Reserve. All wines are primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Each vintage reserve label bears a work of art celebrating the unique history and spirit of Gundlach Bundschu. The 2010 is the last of six labels in the American Landscape series.

The 2010 Vintage Reserve is deeply layered and highly polished. Lush aromasof cassis and dark cocoa are laced with floral notes. The dense flavors of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark chocolate shavings are seamlessly supported by the bold structure that gives the wine tremendous depth, length and intensity. This wine has the balance and concentration to ensure it will age gracefully up to 20 years from vintage. Less than 800 cases produced.

The 2011 Vintage Reserve showcases the art of growing and crafting cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon that is deeply layered and highly polished. Aromas of blackberry, black spice, dried lavender and Darjeeling tea. Concentrated flavors of black currant, cacao and roasted espresso bean are seamlessly supported by the bold structure that gives the wine tremendous depth, length and intensity. Round and smooth in its youth, this wine has the balance and concentration toage gracefully up to 15 years from vintage. Less than 700 cases produced. The label art “Echo”, by artist Nate Reifke, is the first label in their “Groundworks” series.

The 2012 Vintage Reserve received 94 points from Robert Parker Jr.’s “The Wine Advocate”. Bold, seductive aromas waft out of the glass with chocolate-covered blueberries and notes of violets and lavender, intermingled with tea and brown spices.
