Item Description

Quilting watercolor wall hanging class

Great for new and experienced quilters, men and women!

Carol Honderich, instructor

Dates: Friday, March 3, 2017 6:00-9:00 pm

Saturday, March 4, 9:00 am -5:00 pm

Location: Private home in Goshen, Indiana

Included:

  • Beautiful, well-lit design and quilting space with tables for spreading out
  • Personal and group instruction with five other quilters
  • One, $25 fabric kit in Springtime Flowers, Warm Summer, Autumn Leaves or Christmas Decorations with matching thread
  • The Watercolor Quilt Pattern with gridded charts for three different wall hanging designs: a wreath, a heart or a basket
  • Saturday lunch and three snacks, concluding with a chocolate fountain

Watercolor Quilts are designed using 2" squares of colorful fabrics to create an impressionist project. You will place fabric squares on a (provided) large flannel grid design wall. Carol says it’s like putting together a puzzle, finding just the right piece of fabric to bridge neighboring squares and create a larger design.

You will learn:

  • How to select the fabric squares and place them to create your chosen design
  • A simplified technique for quickly and accurately piecing the wall hanging top
  • How to choose borders and a quilting design

What you need to bring:

  • Friday: bring yourself, nothing more is required
  • Saturday: sewing machine, seam ripper, neutral colored thread, small scissors for thread

The kit does not include fabric for borders, backing batting or binding. You will want to purchase these at you favorite fabric store after the center watercolor design is complete so you can take the design with you to match the colors for the borders.

Our goal will be to have the center (watercolor design) complete during the class time so you can easily finish the rest on you own time. Carol is available for consultation as you complete this project after the weekend class time.

Carol Honderich fell in love with quilting when she could barely peek over her Amish mother's quilt frame. Carol enjoys teaching beginners, challenging more experienced quilters and working in an open sharing environment. She has taught workshops coast to coast and in Mongolia. Her quilts have been exhibited in local and national exhibitions. Learn more at Carol's website,
