The Shore Line Trolley Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the longest continuously-operated light rail, suburban trolley line in the United States. The museum is small but all-encompassing in representing the golden era of transportation that helped create both suburbs and infrastructure as we know it today.
Experience the thrill of riding onboard the Museum's antique trolley cars during your trip down a centruy-old historic mile and a half railway through the pristine salt marshes of Branford. The collection of 100 trolleys, subway and freight cars, electric locomotives and buses averages ninety-nine years old. Self-guided and scheduled tours are available to view, ride and fully expererience our extensive rare collection of trolleys and related mass transit vehicles. The tickets are good all day to ride as many times as you wish. Bring your lunch and have it at the riverbank picnic grove. Walk the trails. Tour the car houses. The museum exhibts detail how signals, trolley cars and railways work.
