Item Description
Red Schoendienst is both a form major league baseball player and manager. His playing career was interrupted by his participation in World War II. Therefore, Red broke into the majors in 1945 for the St. Louis Cardinals. He played for 18 years in he majors and ended his career with the Cardinals in 1963. HIs list of accomplishments as a player include:
• 10× All-Star (1946, 1948–1955, 1957)
• 5× World Series champion (1946, 1957, 1964, 1967, 1982)
• NL stolen base leader (1945)
• St. Louis Cardinals #2 retired
Schoendienst was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.
As a manager, Red managed the St. Louis Cardinals from 1965—1976, 1980, and 1990. He managed the Cards to their World Series Win in 1967.
