Item Description
Orlando Cepeda broke into the major leagues with the San Francisco Giants in 1958 and played for the Giants for 8 years before being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals at the beginning of the 1966 season. In his second season with the Cards he managed to help them win the World Series over the Boston Red Sox in seven games and was voted the National League Most Valuable Player.
Among the highlights of his career are:
• 11× All-Star (1959–1964, 1967)
• World Series champion (1967)
• NL MVP (1967)
• NL Rookie of the Year (1958)
• NL home run leader (1961)
• 2× NL RBI leader (1961, 1967)
• San Francisco Giants #30 retired
Cepeda was voted onto the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.
