This is an older stein with a pewter lid. Often the pewter was melted down during the war, which accounts for a large majority of steins being without their original lids. Germany is stamped on the bottom of the stein along with the letterst A G WW, it looks like. See photo for details.
There are some hairline cracks along the rim, as shown in the photos. The stein has a beige background with a forest scene with additional colors of blue and green. The forest scene shows a hunter with a rifle and a hunting dog,. Also in the forest scene are a fox nd a pheasant.
The stein has small hairline cracks along the rim, some of which appear to go to the interior of the stein. Therefore, this would best be used for a display piece rather than a drinking stein. There is also some crazing as shown in the photos. Neither of these really detract from the overall appeal of the stein when on display on the shelf.
Stein is 4 1/2" tall without the lid, with the lid it is 6 1/2" tall. The opening at the top is 2 1/2" and the base is 3".
